Short answer

Brand24 and VueLeaf both start at $249 a month. Brand24 monitors social media, news, blogs, video, forums and review sites across the open web. VueLeaf monitors a published list of cannabis grower forums and subreddits, and nothing else. Choose Brand24 for breadth. Choose VueLeaf when grower forums shape what buyers think of your brand.

Brand24 is on many shortlists for affordable brand monitoring. At the entry level it and VueLeaf cost about the same, so the choice comes down to what you need to monitor, not to budget.

This page compares the two on coverage, price, and the evidence behind each score, then gives you a way to test both before you commit. Brand24 facts come from brand24.com and are dated in the sources section. VueLeaf facts come from VueLeaf pricing and the VueLeaf methodology. If you are new to the category, start with what cannabis forum monitoring covers.

Pricing and Plan Limits

Brand24 publishes 5 plans. Prices below are in USD per month, as listed on brand24.com on October 12, 2026. Annual prices are the monthly rate when billed annually.

Users. Individual allows 1 user. The other plans allow unlimited users.

VueLeaf plans run $249 to $999 a month billed monthly, scaling by brands, keywords and sentiment history. Every plan covers the same forum set. VueLeaf does not publish an update frequency per plan. Full limits and features are on VueLeaf pricing.

The two products count keywords differently. A Brand24 keyword is a search term that collects mentions up to the plan's monthly mention limit. A VueLeaf keyword is one brand, product, competitor or topic name. Compare the tools on the list of names you actually need to track, not on the raw keyword numbers.

Where Brand24 Is the Stronger Choice

Brand24 is a broad listening tool, and for many teams breadth is the right place to start.

  • Coverage beyond forums. It monitors social media, news, blogs, video and reviews. VueLeaf monitors none of those.
  • A free start. A 14-day trial with no credit card. VueLeaf has no free trial.
  • A published update speed. Each plan states how often it updates, up to realtime on the higher plans (see the plan table above).
  • More ready-made metrics. Emotion analysis, Voice Share, Presence Score and Influence Score.
  • Slack. Alerts can go straight to a Slack channel.

If your main question is how your brand shows up in the press, on social media or in reviews, Brand24 answers it and VueLeaf does not.

Does Brand24 Cover Cannabis Grower Forums?

Brand24 lists forums among its sources, and it tracks posts and comments in public subreddits. None of the four Brand24 pages we checked names the forums it covers. For a cannabis brand that matters, because the threads that move grower opinion sit on a small number of communities, such as ICMag, THCFarmer and Rollitup.

So the honest answer is that it may cover the forums you care about, and you can check for free. Brand24's trial needs no credit card. Run your brand name through it and see whether the grower threads you already know about appear. The test below shows how.

Two plan details are worth checking at the same time:

  • Mention allowance. Individual includes 2,000 mentions a month across every source type, so forum threads share that allowance with social and news mentions.
  • Update speed. Individual updates every 12 hours. Faster updates need a higher plan.

When to Look for a Brand24 Alternative

Teams look for a Brand24 alternative for a few recurring reasons. VueLeaf addresses some of them and not others.

Common reasons to look for a Brand24 alternative and whether VueLeaf addresses each
Why teams look elsewhereDoes VueLeaf address it?
The trial missed grower threads they knew aboutYes. VueLeaf publishes the forums it monitors, so you can check coverage before you buy.
They cannot tell which forum is driving a changeYes. Sentiment and share of voice are reported per forum, with attribution by forum and author on Essential and above.
Competitors are not measured on the same communitiesYes. Competitor share of voice is measured on the same forum set as your brand.
They want more social, news or review coverage for lessNo. VueLeaf does not monitor those sources. Compare broad listening tools instead, such as those on VueLeaf vs Mention and VueLeaf vs Brandwatch.

What VueLeaf Does Differently

A named source list. Every grower forum and subreddit VueLeaf monitors is listed on the forums VueLeaf monitors. Review sites, marketplaces, general social media and the open web are out of scope. The set is narrower than Brand24's by design: it is where cannabis buyers compare products in detail.

Forum-level reads. A blended score can hide a problem. A brand can lead on Reddit and barely register on the specialist forums where expert trust is built. VueLeaf reports sentiment and share of voice by forum, so you can see where a change started.

A stated sentiment method. VueLeaf scores sentiment with general-purpose language models prompted with cannabis grower terminology. Every signal traces back to its source thread, and the known limits are listed in the VueLeaf methodology.

A response workflow. Every plan includes a triage queue and owner assignment. Essential and above add response workflows, and no reply is posted without human approval.

To see what this looks like in practice, see an example VueLeaf alert. It is an illustrative scenario that shows the forum, the thread and the attribution behind one alert.

How to Test Both Before You Buy

A short, structured test tells you more than any comparison page, including this one.

  1. List five threads you already know. Pick threads on the forums your buyers use, such as ICMag, THCFarmer or Rollitup, that mention your brand or a competitor.
  2. Run them through Brand24's free trial. Add your brand name as a keyword. Count how many of the five threads appear, and check whether replies inside each thread are captured.
  3. Ask for the same threads in a VueLeaf demo. Ask to see the per-forum breakdown and the source thread behind each signal.
  4. Label 20 posts yourself. Mark each one positive, negative or neutral, then compare both tools against your labels. Include grower shorthand, where a word like "hot" can be praise or a nutrient-burn warning.
  5. Price your real tracking list. Count the brands, products and competitors you need to track. Brand24 prices by keywords and mentions. VueLeaf prices by brands and keywords.

Who Should Use Brand24 vs VueLeaf

Use Brand24 if
You need breadth across the web

Your reputation is shaped mostly by press, social media and reviews, you want to start with a free trial, or you want alerts in Slack.

Use VueLeaf if
Grower forums shape your reputation

Your buyers are growers who compare products on forums, and you need to know exactly which communities are covered, which forum is driving a change, and how competitors compare on the same set.

Some teams run both: Brand24 for broad web and press awareness, and VueLeaf for the grower communities where product reputation forms. For how VueLeaf compares with other tools, see VueLeaf vs Sprout Social.
