What moves the score

The index compares the last 30 days against the prior 30 days and weights each signal according to how strongly it reflects brand movement. It is not just volume in disguise.

Mention volume (20%)

Are more people talking about you than they were last period? Rising volume is the first sign that attention is moving.

Sentiment shift (30%)

Is the conversation improving or deteriorating? This carries the most weight because momentum without sentiment quality can be misleading.

Share of voice (20%)

How much of the total tracked conversation belongs to your brand relative to competitors? Share gains mean you are taking more market attention.

Author growth (15%)

Is your brand reaching new people, or are the same posters carrying the conversation? Growing author count signals widening awareness.

Forum reach (15%)

Are you expanding into more communities or losing presence across them? Broader reach means momentum is not isolated to one forum.

What you see on the page

The new dashboard block is built to answer the first two questions in sequence: what direction is the brand moving, and what is pushing it there?

Momentum score

A single number from -100 to +100 so you can answer “how is the brand doing?” without checking three different widgets first.

Direction label

Plain-language states such as Strong positive, Moderate negative, or Neutral so the number never needs interpretation on its own.

Driver table

Every signal sorted by impact, with the biggest positive factor and biggest negative factor surfaced immediately.

Competitor comparison

A side-by-side view showing whether your brand is gaining faster or slower than the rest of the field, not just whether you improved in isolation.

Confidence and trend

A confidence label plus a 30-day sparkline so you know whether the score is well-supported and whether direction is strengthening or fading.

How to read the range

The score is meant to be directional, not theatrical. The number matters because it changes the next action you should take.

+30 to +100

Strong growth

Multiple factors are moving in your favor. This is usually the moment to double down on the channels, topics, or launches already working.

-10 to +10

Neutral

The brand is stable or the signals are cancelling each other out. The breakdown tells you whether you are balanced or stuck.

-30 to -100

Real decline

The score is falling because something material is dragging it down. The point is not to panic, but to know exactly where to investigate first.

Use it with the rest of VueLeaf

Momentum tells you whether the brand is moving. Attribution tells you why. Risk tells you whether the downside needs immediate attention. The value is in reading them together, not in replacing them.

When the score is rising

Check the top driver first so you know whether growth is coming from reach, sentiment, or raw volume.
Compare your score to competitors before celebrating. A positive score matters less if a rival is accelerating twice as fast.
Use the sparkline to tell whether momentum is still building or starting to flatten.

When the score turns negative

The top drag tells you where the decline begins, whether that is sentiment, lost share, or shrinking reach.
Jump into Sentiment Attribution if sentiment is the drag so you can see which forum, topic, or cohort is causing the slide.
Pair it with Reputation Risk Score when momentum drops fast and the brand needs triage, not just analysis.

The Market Momentum Index is live on Dashboard Overview. If your brand has enough data in both comparison windows, the score is ready. If it does not, VueLeaf says so directly instead of pretending certainty.
